Felvo works because people tell the truth here. These rules exist to keep that possible. They apply to every post, every prompt response, and every word written in the app.
What belongs here
- Honest reflection on how your day actually went.
- Things you wouldn't put your name to elsewhere.
- The good ones and the hard ones equally — all eight moods are real moods.
There's no reward for performing here. No follower count grows, no number appears under anything you write. If a post reads like it was written for an audience, it's probably in the wrong place.
Heavy, and where the line sits
Heavy exists so difficult experiences have somewhere to go. Honest personal reflection written from survival is welcome — including reflection on periods that were dangerous or frightening.
What is not permitted is content that glorifies or provides instruction on self-harm, suicide, or disordered eating. Describing what you lived through is allowed. Presenting it as desirable, or explaining how it's done, is not.
Felvo is not a crisis service and we do not monitor posts for emergencies. Please reach someone who can help right now.
United States — call or text 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, any hour.
Elsewhere — findahelpline.com lists services by country.
Not allowed anywhere on Felvo
- Content that glorifies or provides instruction on self-harm, suicide, or disordered eating.
- Sexual content, and sexual content involving minors without exception.
- Threats, harassment, or targeting a person or group.
- Hate speech based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or age.
- Naming or identifying private individuals, including yourself. Felvo is anonymous in both directions.
- Illegal activity, or instructions for causing serious harm.
- Spam, advertising, links, or anything written to promote something.
What happens when something is reported
Any post can be reported from the ••• menu on the card. Reports are reviewed by a person, not an automated filter.
Content that breaks these rules is removed. Accounts that repeatedly break them lose the ability to post, and then the ability to use Felvo at all. A trust score sits behind this — it goes down when content is removed and recovers slowly over time.
Reported content is retained for a limited period as part of the moderation record even if it would otherwise have expired. Without that, anything reported shortly before it was due to disappear would be gone before anyone could look at it. This is described in the privacy policy.
What you can do yourself
- Mute — hides everything from that account, from that point on.
- Hide a mood — removes a whole mood from your feed, in Settings → Content Filters.
- Mute words — posts containing a word you choose won't reach you. The matching happens on your phone and the list never reaches our servers.
- Report — sends it to us for review.
Word filters reduce what reaches you rather than guaranteeing it. People don't always use the word you're avoiding — someone writing about a relapse might say they slipped. On a day when you need to be careful, hiding a whole mood is the surer tool.
Posting limits
There's a daily cap on posts, generous enough that ordinary use never meets it. It exists so no single voice can flood a feed that has no algorithm to push them back down.
The weekly prompt takes one response per person. It's a shared moment rather than a conversation, and everyone gets the same amount of room.
